I gasp, feeling my sex reawaken by his words. “Andrew,” I whisper.

He shakes his head and takes the seat across from me. “Later,” he says; his voice back to its normal, smooth flow. “First we eat, and then we have some things to talk about.”

I nod and pick my fork up, then stop to look at him. “Are you real?” I ask.

His hand stops midway to his mouth and he looks me straight in the eyes. “As real as you want me to be, baby,” he says.

I eye him and think, ‘I accept your challenge.’

  Chapter 6

  Competing with a Memory

After we finish our meal, she makes coffee and we take our cups into the living room. I’m afraid. I know I shouldn’t be, and not once in my life have I ever been unsure of myself, but there’s something about Mary.

Once we’re sitting, she turns to look at me. As much as I need answers like I need air, I’ll let her start. “You have questions,” I ask. She nods, biting her lower lip. I reach out releasing it and whisper, “I will be as honest with you as you are with me. I don’t want anything between us, ok?”

“Thank you,” she says, “But before I start with my questions, I know you have your own. In order for mine to make sense, you’ll need answers first. I too will answer as honestly as I can.”

‘She’s right,’ I think. There’s no way we can move forward without the story of her and Michael out in the open.

“How did you meet Michael?” I ask, thinking it’s about the best place as any to start.

She takes a deep breath, but her body tenses, so I take her hand in mine to reassure her and she smiles painfully. “I was eighteen when I met Michael,” she starts, “He was thirty-two. I liked him and he enjoyed my company.”

My throat went dry as the next question slipped out, “How did Gabe come about?”

“One night, things got a little heated and I lost my virginity to him,” she answers, “The only good thing that came from that night was Gabe. The sex was painful, and Michael lasted long enough for him to get off. I, on the other hand, had to finish myself off in the bathroom after he rolled over and went to sleep.” She said this last part as her face became beat red. “Should I continue?” I nod; I need to know everything.

“My life with Michael, up to the day he was murdered, wasn’t all that bad, but how can a person live without love, compassion, and warmth,” she continues with a faraway look in her eyes. “Michael was forced to marry me when my parents found out about us. They wanted me to abort Gabe. Their reasoning; he was created out of wedlock and they wouldn’t support a bastard kid. I refused, of course, so Michael married me. Michael had always provided for us and we never wanted for anything. He was a wonderful father and lawyer. His work ethic and character were impeccable as you may know. However, it caught up with him. Over the years, Michael had his share of lovers on the side. Yes, I knew about them all. He had them, and I had Gabe.”

My heart goes out to her. She has been alone for a long time without someone to love her. I reach out and stroke her cheek. “Did you love him?” I choke out, I dread the answer, but I need to know if I am competing against a memory. She swallows and shakes her head and I leaned in closer; resting my forehead on hers. “So I’m not competing with a ghost for your heart?”

“No,” she breathes, “Just don’t hurt him, please.”

I frown. “Mary, I don’t have plans of hurting either of you,” I assure her.

She shakes her head, closes her eyes and pulls away. “I don’t give a shit about my heart,” she whimpers, “That little boy, asleep in his room, is all I care about.”

“Mary, look at me,” I say, placing a finger beneath her chin and turning her face towards mine, “I agree that Gabe should be your first priority, but what about you baby? Who’s watching out for you? Who’s taking care of you, loving you?”

A single tear escapes her beautiful eyes. “No one,” she whispers, “Not even my parents.”

Before I go any further and spill what’s in my heart, I need her to understand. “My parents met and married thirty years ago,” I explain, “My father tells me that the second he saw my mom, he couldn’t breathe, time had stood still and the world fell away. Then she looked into his eyes, and he could breathe again. When she spoke, the ground dropped out from under him, his heart sped up, and he felt sick to his stomach. He told me that’s when you know you’re in love.”

“Have,” she starts, “Have you ever felt that way?”

I nod. “Once,” I answer, “When I stepped out in the rain tonight. I never… I wasn’t looking for love. I’ve been happy playing the field, or so I thought. When I saw you coming down the sidewalk, drenched, and singing as if you didn’t have a care in the world, I felt it. I always thought that my dad was full of shit. I figured they were a rare couple and it worked for them. However, tonight, I lost my heart to a rain drenched, singing, single mother.”

Tears are uncontrollably spilling from her eyes. “I so want to believe you,” she sobs, “Not just for Gabe to have a father, but also for me. I’m so lonely.”

I kiss her nose. “I know you are, baby,” I say, “If you’ll give me a chance to prove my words are true, you will never be lonely or alone again. I know I won’t ever take the place of Michael, but I will do my best to be the father Gabe needs.”

“After Michael,” she says, “I don’t know how to trust. My heart was cracked years ago, and these past four years have shattered it. I want what you’re offering, I just don’t know how.”

“Baby, can you at least try?” I ask, “I just want the chance to un-break your heart.”

She cups my face in her hands and brushes her lips across mine. “Make love to me Andrew,” she says, “I want to lose myself in you; with you.”

I groan and feel my cock come fully to life. “Anything for you, Mary,” I whisper against her lips, “Always and forever.”

  Chapter 7

  Finding Heaven

Andrew claims my lips; drinking from them as if his life depending on what I can give him. I slid my hands around his neck, threading my fingers in his hair, and pulling him closer.

“Bedroom?” he asks between kisses. My only response is a moan. He stands, lifting me with him, and carries me down the hall and into my room.

Lowering me to the floor, he steps back and looks at me. I can see the desire and fire I feel reflected in his eyes. Breathing hard he says, “Robe off, now.”

I giggle as I start to remove it, thinking about what he had said to me in the kitchen.

He steps closer, fully nude; his cock beautifully reaching his belly button. My breath catches. The only one I had seen in person was Michael’s and he was nowhere the size of Andrew. “Something funny?” he asks with a smirk and reaching to finish the task I had started.

My robe, boy shorts, and top are off and I still haven’t found my voice. The sight of him both excites me, and scares the shit out of me.

“See something you like?” he asks and I quickly look up to see him looking down at me. His eyes have gone dark and his breathing is more erratic than before.

Feeling brave, I nod, and take his cock in my small hands. “I do,” I say swallowing, “But I’m scared at the same time.”

He hisses as he throws his head back from my touch. “God baby,” he groans, “You keep touching me and I won’t last.” He reaches down and removes my hands from his cock and lays them on his chest.

Without his hands on me I feel panicked. “Andrew, please touch me,” I beg, leaning into him, “Touch me and tell me everything will be fine.”

He encircles my waist with one arm as his other hand runs the length of my body, stopping just above my sex. “I’ve got you Mary,” he says breathless, “I will always have you.”

Pulling his face close, I nod. “Stop teasing and touch me, please,” I plead, “I’m so wet, so wet for you.” I reach down with one hand and place it over his, urging him closer to where I need him.

  He growls deep in in
throat, takes my lips with his, and pushes his hand between my spread legs.

My hands go back to his hair and pull. ‘I can’t get close enough,’ I think as I grind my sex against his hand.

Breaking the kiss, Andrew pulls back and his eyes large. “You’re fucking soaked,” he says is shock. Then he pushes two fingers inside, “And so fucking tight. God Mary, I might not last this first time, but I promise, I won’t leave you wanting.”

I nod. At this point I would agree to anything just to have him inside of me. “Please Andrew,” I gasp, “Don’t make me wait.”

Slipping his fingers from deep inside of me, he brings them to his mouth and sucks them clean. Closing his eyes he whispers, “So good.” Looking at me again, he lays us both on the bed and hovers over me. Using his free hand, he nudges my knee. “Open for me baby so I can sink my thick cock deep inside you. I want to feel the walls of your pussy milking me dry.”

“Oh my,” I moan as I open my legs as far as they will go.

Lightly kissing my lips, he positions his straining cock at my entrance. “You ready baby?” he asks. He must have noticed my hesitation and maybe saw the fear return to my face. He kisses me again, running his tongue lightly over my lips. “I’ll go slowly, but I can’t promise that there won’t be any pain. You’re small and I’m pretty thick. I do promise that I will do my best to make it as painless as I can, ok?”

I close my eyes and nod. “Ok,” I whisper.

“Open your eyes Mary,” he whispers, and my eyes obey, “I want to see your eyes as I enter you. I want to see the pleasure I bring you as I fill your pussy with my throbbing cock.”

I open my mouth to tell him to stop talking and just do it already, but before I can, he thrust inside me, buried to the hilt. I wince and dig my nails into his back. The pain, although it’s there, isn’t as painful as it had been with Michael.

“Stop it,” he groans from above me, unmoving and I frown, “Don’t ever compare me to him. I’m Andrew not Michael. While he may have been your first, I will be your last.” Then he begins to move, slowly in and out of me.

“My last,” I moan looking him in the eyes, and raking my nails across his back to his ass and my legs wrap around his waist, “No comparison Andrew. I know who’s filling me. I know who’s making me feel good.”

He has an arm wrapped around me, his free hand digging into my hip, and sweat dripping from his brow. He’s moving faster now, and I can feel his cock throbbing inside me as my walls close around him.

“Fuck,” he groans, “Do that again baby.” In my close to orgasm fog, I squeeze his cock, thinking that’s what he wanted and am rewarded with a loud growl. “Yes,” he hisses, “I’m close, please tell me your there.”

It doesn’t matter how close I am. Just seeing the pleasure on his face because of me is worth being left wanting. So I wrap my arms around his neck and bring my lips to his ear, “Just let go,” I whisper.

“No,” he howls rising up on both arms, “Together or not at all.” He braces himself on one arm as he slips a hand between us and begins to play with my clit.

Flames shoot through me and my back arches as I see fireworks. “Now Andrew,” I scream, “Let go now.”

We erupt together, Andrew with a groan as he throws his head back and I cry, the tears pouring from my wide eyes. For never having an orgasm with a man, I’ve sure made up for lost time.

Andrew collapses on top of me, his face buried in my neck, both of us struggling to breathe as I stroke his back.

“Two,” he mumbles breathlessly as he lifts his face to mine, “Are you shitting me? Two orgasms, I’ve never done that to a woman before.”

I smile and shrug. “I guess I found Heaven,” I say.

He kisses me hard and then cups my face with one hand. “You don’t need to say anything,” he says still struggling to breathe, “But I need you to know that I really have fallen in love with you.”

  Chapter 8

  Breakfast Trials

After my full declaration of love, Mary fell asleep, smiling and fully sated in my arms. I’m lying here, looking at the ceiling, one arm around her holding her close, her head lying on my chest, wondering what the next move should be. I’m so out of my element it isn’t funny.

What I told her was the truth, when I stepped out of that building, I wasn’t looking for love, but it found me and slapped the shit out of me. Not only was I lucky in finding one love, but I get a package deal. Gabe, like his mom, has stolen my heart in such a short period of time.

I’ve found Heaven in a package deal, I think as I drift off to sleep.

  ***

I wake feeling as if I’m being watched. I open my eyes to see the most beautiful woman in the world still sleeping. So I slowly turn and I’m met with large, inquisitive brown eyes and I jump, my heart going into my throat.

Gabe laughs and I smile, placing my finger in front of my mouth. “Hush,” I whisper, “Let mom sleep ok?” He’s still smiling as he nods. “Are you hungry?” Again I’m met with a nod. “Alright, go get dressed and I’ll meet you in the kitchen, ok?” He nods and rushes from the room.

Thankful the blanket was still in place on both of us when he walked in; I throw it back and quietly slip out of bed. Pulling on the sweats I had on the night before, I stare at Mary sleeping. I know I need to talk to someone who’s been where I am, minus the kid part, and get some much needed advice.

Gabe will have questions. He’s never seen Mary sleeping with someone, so I brace myself as I leave the bedroom for the questions I know are coming. Seeing as he’s four, and the fact the little guy is a genius, his questions could be anything.

Stepping into the kitchen, I had to stop and laugh at the sight in front of me. Gabe has a chair pulled over to the counter, bowl, spoon, skillet, milk, and pancake mix everywhere, including himself.

He turns, sees me, and smiles the largest smile I’ve ever seen. “I’m making pancakes,” he declares proudly, “Wanna help Andrew?”

“Of course,” I answer stepping further into the kitchen, “Where do you want me?”

He points at the stove. “There, ‘cause mommy says I’m still too small to cook,” he says, “But she said I was a big boy so I can mix it in the bowl.”

“I did say that,” Mary says from behind us. We turn slowly, both of us looking like we got caught doing what we shouldn’t. However, Mary is smiling, “Although, we don’t make pancakes except for the weekends.” Gabe’s face fell and the twinkle in his eyes is gone, “But seeing as we have company, pancakes are perfect.”

Gabe and I high-five and turn back to making pancakes as Mary laughs behind us. I follow her out of the corner of my eye to see her pulling out orange juice, milk, plates, and syrup. On her last trip by us, I spin and trap her in my arms. Bringing my face close to hers I whisper, “Good morning baby,” and then place a soft kiss on her lips.

She blushes and smiles. “Morning to you too,” she says, “Did you sleep well?”

“I’ve never slept better,” I answer honestly, “You?”

“Andrew,” Gabe yells, “The pancakes are burning.”

I turn to see that the pan did indeed get a little too warm, but they are fine. Placing my hand atop Gabe’s head I lean close. “Thanks son,” I say, “Wanna hand me a plate?” I go to scoop the pancake up when I hear a gasp from behind me and then little arms circle my neck. My arms immediately circle Gabe as I turn to look at him.

“Don’t leave,” he whispers with tears in his eyes, “Daddy did that and it hurt me. I think mommy hurt too,” he then buries his small face in my neck and cries.

My heart stops and drops to my stomach. I hurt for this child who has lost so much. I tighten my hold and bring my lips to his ear. “Gabe, I don’t plan on going anywhere,” I whisper, “This is where I want to be, right here with you and mommy, ok?”

He pulls back, rubbing his eyes and nods. “Ok,” he whispers. I place a kiss on his forehead and turn to look at Mary when I notice the time.

“Shit,” I say, “Mary can you take over here? I’m going to be late for work and I have court this morning.” Just then the doorbell sounds. “That will be Jackson with a clean suit.”

She nods and reaches over to turn the burner off as the pancake is in fact, burning this time. “Go, we’ll be fine,” she says.

I step close to her and cup her face bring her eyes to mine. “I’m sending Jackson to pick the two of you up before lunch,” I say, “I’ll take the rest of the day off. We’ll get a bite to eat and settled into my place, at least for the night, but understand this; I want the two of you moved in within two weeks.”

Tears are threatening to spill from her eyes. She nods and gives me a small smile. “Go get ready,” she says, “Or you will be late.”

I kiss her softly then turn towards Gabe. “Wanna get the door with me?” I ask, “I want you to meet someone.”

I open my arms and Gabe jumps into them, laughing. Securing him on one side, I take Mary’s hand with my other hand and lead them to the door.

Opening the door, Jackson is sporting the biggest smile ever. “Good morning sir,” Jackson says, “And you too Miss Mary.” Then he turns towards Gabe in my arms and his eyes sparkle, “Ah, you must be Master Gabe. It is a pleasure to meet you.”

Gabe leans towards my ear and whispers, not too quietly, “Is he a stranger?”

I chuckle. “No,” I answer, “Jackson is a good guy. If you ask him, I bet he has a lot of stories to tell about me growing up.”

Gabe turns back to Jackson and smiles. “Since you’re not a stranger I can talk to you,” he states, “Do you know who Ironman is?”

Jackson laughs and raises a brow at me. “As a matter of fact, I do Gabe,” he says, “Andrew has his all over his office at home. Would you like to see them later when I pick you up?”

Gabe is jumping in my arms so I place him on the floor. “Would I ever,” he says excitedly and then rushes from the room.
